Description

For some tasks it's easier to edit the source directly, or that's what I think... this tool could come with error correction, you can see an example in the picture attached.

PS: This isn't an 'April's fools day' joke.

Would rather have an "Edit open script with with..." option

comment:3 Changed 6 years ago by nesu-kun

that way you'll be forced to save and reopen the script in aegi :/ also you won't have autosave and some other aegi things. also, notepad doesn't have color coding and error detection for ass afaik. ;P

Bump! want to see this! (or even implement as soon as I can build aegi myself!)

Implementing this is probably much harder than it looks...

Yes, I also think this would take too much synchronisation back and forth and make a big risk of some tools breaking on it. It'd have to be an exclusive mode at the very least, I believe. (And then you could just as well just open the file in an external editor.)

This sounds really useful to me. I would use this at least twice a week. I'd recomend its implmentation just as a basic internal text editor that would be exclusive until you exited. It would need just basic functionality, and it would be lovely if it did some highiling for ease of reading.

Most of the operations I do this procedure for are find and replace on things like style names (like having 4 styles interlaced and needing to change only one of them to a new name) or copying all the style infomration except font size and font name from one style to another (this happens alot more than one would expect for me, and espically in karaoke).

Aegisub already has Search+Replace on the style field. Also just within selection.

As for the styles problem, perhaps something alike to the Paste Over feature for the main subtitles would be useful. In fact, perhaps the entire style manager+editor should be redesigned to one integrated dialogue.

Along those lines, it would be smart to just display the completed style line for editing in the styles window, or at least have a button to let you edit it, that would be alot less work than complety redesigning that interface :O

I'd really like to see such feature too.
